Marion T. Coleman Pathways Scholarship
THE SPRING 2023 COLEMAN PATHWAYS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS CLOSED
The Coleman Pathways scholarship was named after NBHP's former Executive Director, Marion T. Coleman, Ph.D., who had a passion for building the behavioral health workforce of tomorrow. The goal of the program is to ensure that students working toward licensure in a behavioral health field are able to graduate and practice within their field in the greater Houston area. The scholarship program began under Dr. Coleman's tenure in 2011, and by the Summer of 2021, NBHP had awarded 56 Bachelor of Social Work students from the University of Houston Downtown with almost $45,000 in scholarships. In 2021, NBHP expanded scholarship eligibility to both undergraduate graduate students of all behavioral health disciplines enrolled in Houston area colleges and universities.
Today, the scholarship awards behavioral health students in their final year of their program that are completing an internship or practicum. Often, these placements are unpaid and the scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students so that they can complete their studies. The scholarship is open once per year during the end of the spring semester.
